Honoring Ray Print E-mail
Written by AMOA Off the Top
371When Ray Shroyer passed away on March 8 following a long, courageous battle with cancer, AMOA's leadership was conducting its Mid-Year Board Meeting in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Yesterday afternoon, AMOA President Lloyd Williamson and Executive Vice President Jack Kelleher traveled to Streator, IL, to visit with Diane Shroyer and belatedly extend the condolences of the AMOA Board of Directors.

Diane provided a tour of Metro Amusements's facilities. Less than two weeks after Ray died, his son, Joe, who was set to take over the route, died suddenly as a result of complications from a blood clot.

Now, Diane and a small group of Ray's loyal, long- time employees are running the enterprise.

359The grand prize of this year's Wayne E. Hesch Scholarship program will be a Polaris Ranger All- Terrain-Vehicle (ATV).

The program, which raises funds for college scholarships--awarded mostly to students with a connection to coin-op--has generated more than $900,000 since its inception in 1985. It is named in honor of the late Wayne Hesch, who served as AMOA President in 1979.

Tickets are $25 each and $100 for five. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact Renie Buttermore at: 800-YES-AMOA (937-2662) or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Website Project Taking Shape Print E-mail
Written by AMOA Off the Top
As noted in this week's Off-The-Top introduction, AMOA is in the midst of developing a new service program that will offer members a very low-cost entree into having a presence on the Internet

In essence, AMOA will be offering members hands-on help in creating a website for their company...at a minimal cost. Using a template that was created in the developmental phase of this program, members will be provided with a website address, accompanied by a series of pages that will contain information on the member's company and services.

AMOA is finalizing the details with WebCampOne, owned by AMOA Past President Jim Pietrangelo, who will work directly with interested members on creating the site.

AMOA is working to make it as easy and quick as possible for its members to have a website. Right now, the envisioned price tag is $50 for creation of the site, with a $50 annual renewal fee.

More details will be forthcoming, but if you as an AMOA member have wanted to tell your customers to "visit our website for more information about us," you will soon no longer have any excuses!

Contact Jack Kelleher at 800-YES-AMOA (937-2662) or via email at: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.
